PHIXER for Beatport / club and store mono fold and disappearing bass before upload
Studio headphones can feel huge while the same Beatport dance release thins on a club system, in the Beatport store preview, or on a phone speaker after upload. Club PA mono-sum, store preview fold, and a tiny mono-ish driver eat kick thump, bass body, and side beds. Practical habit: check with PHIXER before Beatport upload. Free phase-repair helps after polarity and timing. It is not a Beatport encoder, not a loudness tool, and not a substitute for a true mono listen on a club-ish sum or phone.

PHIXER is free stereo phase-repair (VST3/CLAP/AU · Win/Mac/Linux) from Riverflux Audio. Frequency-aware phase rotation for leftover L/R fights on stereo material. It is not a Beatport uploader, not a time-aligner, not a stereo widener, and not a substitute for polarity, delay matching, or a real mono / club-system / Beatport-store-preview check. Use it after hygiene, when residual spectral cancellation remains on a stereo bed you must keep stereo through Beatport upload, dancefloor PA, and phone playback. Check with PHIXER before you upload.
Three Beatport / dancefloor collapse modes
- Club system / PA mono-sum. Many dancefloors and club tops collapse or near-mono the low end. A master that sounds huge in headphones can soft-drop kick and bass body when the system sums. Habit: true L+R sum on the stereo bounce before you upload. Cousin guide: PHIXER for Club System / PA mono fold and disappearing bass.
- Beatport store / phone fold after upload. Buyers often preview in the Beatport player or on a phone before they cart. Mute wide FX briefly and re-check fold in a real preview path, not only in DAW headphones.
- DJ edit / SoundCloud cousin. Club edits and indie upload preview share the same mono-speaker story as Beatport dance-release fold. Cousins: Phase-checking DJ edits and club edits before release · PHIXER for SoundCloud / phone mono fold.
Fast Beatport / club-store mono audition (about 60 seconds)
- Sum L+R on the master / stereo bounce bus. Listen to kick thump, bass body, and side beds.
- A/B stereo vs mono. Note what disappears on fold: S and SH consonants, kick punch, wide pads under the drop.
- Preview the bounce on a phone speaker and, if you can, a club-ish mono or near-mono sum. Open a Beatport-style store preview path. Mute wide FX / Haas / side-heavy verbs. Note which path thins the preview fold.
- Re-check fold after any limiter / loudness / encode pass, not only before cleanup. Still check with PHIXER before Beatport upload if residual L/R fights remain. Habit: mono compatibility checklist.
Honest order of fixes (before spectral phase rotation)
1. True mono / L+R listen plus club-system and Beatport store preview
Hard L+R sum on the master / stereo bounce. Then preview on a phone speaker and a club-ish sum. Habit: mono compatibility checklist, Club System, and the 60-second audition above.
2. Polarity if a path flips
Dual mics, stacked stems, dual-path beds. Flip polarity when body returns. Guide: polarity vs phase.
3. Timing / delay-align before spectral tools
Nudge dual mics, stacked takes, and wide beds a few ms. Spectral rotation is not a substitute for timing.
4. Prefer correlated lows and center for club PA and Beatport store preview
Keep kick, bass, and critical voice correlated. Put width in sides that survive fold. Related: Club System, DJ edits, and SoundCloud / phone mono fold.
5. Only then audition residual L/R spectral fights
If a stereo bed must stay stereo and fold still hollows a band after the steps above, gentle frequency-aware phase rotation can help. Prove it with mono A/B. Check with PHIXER before Beatport upload. Watch the YouTube tutorial, the YouTube intro, and the mono demo.
Beatport / dance-release path types
| Setup | Common mono failure | First fix |
|---|---|---|
| Club system / PA mono-sum | Kick and bass lose body on the dancefloor | Hard mono bounce; club-ish sum check |
| Beatport store / phone after upload | Buyer preview soft-drops on a phone | True L+R on the stereo bounce before upload |
| Wide pad / Haas under the drop | Swish or cancel on fold | Less width in lows; correlated center |
| Dual-path vocal / stacked takes | Body gone when both play | Polarity then timing |
| Limiter / encode pass after mix | Fine in headphones, thin after upload | Re-check fold after limiter / encode, not only before |
| DJ edit / SoundCloud / Club System cousin | Club edit or upload preview fold thins the same way | DJ edits · SoundCloud · Club System |
Club System, DJ edits, and SoundCloud cousins (short version)
- Club / PA mono-sum, DJ club edits, and SoundCloud upload / phone preview mono share the same L+R habit as Beatport / club and store mono fold before upload.
- Polarity and timing still come first. Spectral tools after residual L/R fights only. Check with PHIXER before Beatport upload.

When not to reach for PHIXER
- Wrong polarity on dual mics or stacked stems (flip polarity first).
- Obvious attack misalignment (nudge first).
- You only need a mono print, not a stereo bed that must survive Beatport store preview and club fold.
- Beatport upload / encode / waveform-display problems (wrong tool).
- Loudness, LUFS, or stream-encoder problems (wrong tool).
- Honesty list: When not to use PHIXER.
